A few weeks ago, I was struggling to focus on my top priorities.
Something was blocking me.
Like a big weight.
It did not take long to identify what it was.
Some boring administrative tasks related to my flat contract.
And some misunderstandings with the electricity provider.
The type of tasks I truly hate to spend my time on.
I knew I had much more impactful things to do.
But I could not serenely devote my time to them.
So I surrendered.
And took care of the weights first.
Surprisingly, it turned out to be quite gratifying.
Having removed these awful items from my list, I felt lighter.
And I could finally take care of the rest.
“You elevate by letting go of the weights, not by reaching for the spirit” (Michael Singer)
Many productivity frameworks recommend to prioritise by impact.
And underestimate how impactful “paying the bills” can be.
So, before you even prioritise, let go of the weights.
“Pay your bills”.
So that the rest can flow naturally.
Have a lighter journey,

For a while I wrote an emotional to-do list: things I’m excited to do, things I’m dreading etc. it was really helpful to call out that some things were blocking me for emotional reasons and acknowledge that getting them done would free me up.
In a Quantum Energy session on Thursday, I asked to have my old shoulder injury assessed. During the session, I was encouraged to think on "Am I shouldering a burden that's too heavy to bear?" and "Am I taking on the stress or weight of something that is somebody else's and doesn't belong to me?"
In the context of paying bills, I value the insight of getting down to the task and paying the bills in order to release the weight. I equally question, how did we get to a place where paying bills has such a weight? Are the bills necessary to pay? What happens when we don't pay the bills?
Without knowing any statistics, I can easily say that over half the world's population do not even have the option to pay bills. Which again brings me to question, why does paying bills hold so much weight?
Until we seriously change the paradigm, most of us in first world nations will continue to pay the bills and continue to feel it's weight. And until we all set up solar panels and harness energy from wind or water, addressing and acting on the weight may be the easiest management of it.
Thanks for another thought provoking post!
